Prototype (itch) (blue Light Games) Mac Os X
'Face the endless hordes of enemies and kill Ma'loko - the god of evil' :)
To be honest, this is my first game / prototype - at this point, it is very basic, it doesn't have any boss :) but I always wanted to make a game, and this pandemic year seems perfect for it ;) It's more like a work in progress project or very, very, very early preview / access ;)
The concept of the game is simple - kill the hordes of enemies and beat the multiple bosses at the end :)
Prototype (itch) (blue Light Games) Mac Os Update
About 15 years ago, I was quite hardcore World of Warcraft player and I would like to have my game focused around fighting aspect, with a lot of skills involved, with clever enemies (ie. cooperating with each other) and smart, scripted boss fights. At least, that's my goal ;)
The core of the game was built, based on great youTube tutorial, created by HeartBeast (for Game Maker Studio). Without it, I would probably never learn Game Development on my own. But I liked the lessons, so since the beginning of 2021, I kind of dedicated 1-3 hours daily to go through every part of tutorial. After finishing tutorial, I slowly started changing things (and watching more tutorials ;p). So far I learnt how to:
have some basic, progressing game mechanic (incoming waves of the enemies)
create, program some basic types of enemies (melee, flying-melee, flying range)
change the graphics to my taste by using plenty of different assets (free and paid), tiles, sprites :), add some light fx
add music, sound effects
add basic skills, combos, special attacks (using energy or cooldown), block, roll etc.
basic items drop (potions etc.)
I am a software engineer but to be honest the challenges in game development are totally diffrent :) than my backend / fullstack engineer experience (I currently work on .. production ready kitchen appliance ecosystem for .. some company ;) ). One of the biggest challenges is to spend 8 hours daily programming at work and then go home and .. spend additional 1-3 hours daily making my game :) It's hard to keep your brain sharp ;)
Like I said, the stage of it, is very, very, very early, not even alpha, beta, gamma, the concept of the game may totally change but it'll be all focused around fights ;) It's not a metroidvania because I don't have resources to create all of these beautiful rooms, places :) - I want to keep my game 'world' very small (maybe it'll be more or less closer to arenas) but filled with action.
I have tons of things on my roadmap BUT I also wanted to put something on the Internet because hopefully, it'll keep my motivation high and I will add Windows / Mac OS working game files. Currently it's just some images and video (recorded from the phone - yeah, I was a bit spontanious creating this page on itch ;) ).
